Frequently Asked Questions

Can my water bill be mailed to coincide with my paydays?

No, the water bill is due on the 15th day of the month after it is issued. The meter is read during the first week of the month. You will be billed for the water usage between meter readings and a monthly service charge.

Can I use a credit or debit card for payments?

Yes! You can go to the Xpress Bill Pay website and make your payment or stop in or call the office and we can process your debit or credit card payment for you.

Why is the returned payment fee so high?

When the District receives a returned payment, staff time is used to reverse the payment in the billing system and make necessary documentation. The office staff also has to contact the customer and attempt to collect another form of payment. In addition to the staff time, the District’s bank charges a fee for all returned items.

Is my meter read every month?

Yes, very meter is read on a monthly basis.

Where is my water meter located?

Your meter is typically located at the edge of the street in front of your property. Often times the meter is set at the property corner. You may contact North Beach Water if you need assistance in locating your meter.

Where is my water line located on my property?

The Utility owns and maintains the water mains in the street, the water line from the main to the meter, and the water meter. However, North Beach Water District does not own, maintain, or have knowledge of the location of your water line beyond the meter.

Does the Utility repair water leaks on my side of the meter?

The Utility is only responsible for repairs and water loss up to and including the water meter.

How do I know if I have a leak?

If you suspect you might have a leak please call us and we will send a technician out as soon as possible to check. If the technician finds a leak when someone is home they will ask if you want the water turned off or left on. If a leak is discovered when no one is home they will shut off the water at the customer valve if installed or if there is no customer valve they will turn off the District side and attempt to contact the owner or tenant.

Do I have to pay for water lost due to a leak?

Yes. Once water passes through the meter it becomes the responsibility of the customer. For this reason we encourage everyone to have a customer control valve installed at the meter if one is not already installed, this gives the customer the ability to turn their water off and on as they please. If you do experience a leak, the District can refund half of the above normal water usage, just provide receipts showing the leak was fixed and fill out a Leak Adjustment Form, this option can only be used once in a five year period.
